Our service ensures a comfortable, well-planned, and spiritually enriching Ziyarat experience with flexible booking and 24/7 support.
There is a moment that every pilgrim experiences in Makkah — after completing Tawaf, after praying at the Haram, after the first overwhelming wave of emotion has settled — when the heart turns to the places surrounding the holy city. The cave where the first words of the Quran were revealed. The mountain where the Prophet climbed in search of truth. The plains where millions of pilgrims have stood before Allah in one of the most powerful acts of worship in Islam.
These places are not just historical landmarks. They are living reminders of the birth of Islam, and visiting them during your time in Makkah is a deeply meaningful part of the Umrah and Hajj experience for millions of pilgrims every year.
Getting to these holy sites independently, however, is not always easy. They are spread across different areas around Makkah, distances vary, roads can be unfamiliar, and during peak Umrah and Hajj seasons the area is extremely busy. A private Makkah Ziyarat taxi solves all of this — giving you a knowledgeable, respectful driver, a comfortable vehicle, and a carefully planned tour that takes you to every significant site at a pace that suits your group.
At Umrah Hajj Travels, our Makkah Ziyarat taxi service is one of the most requested services we offer. Pilgrims from around the world — families, elderly couples, mosque groups, and solo travellers — book our Ziyarat tours every day throughout the Umrah and Hajj seasons. In this guide we cover every holy site you can visit, the spiritual significance of each location, tour duration options, pricing, and how to book.
The word Ziyarat comes from Arabic and means visit or visitation. In the context of Umrah and Hajj, Makkah Ziyarat refers to the practice of visiting the significant historical and spiritual sites in and around Makkah that are connected to the life of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the history of Islam, and the rituals of Hajj.
While Ziyarat visits are not an obligatory part of Umrah or Hajj, they are deeply encouraged as a way of strengthening one’s connection to Islamic history, deepening spiritual understanding, and gaining additional blessings during time spent in the holy city. For many pilgrims, the Ziyarat tour is an experience they remember and speak about for the rest of their lives.
A private Makkah Ziyarat taxi allows you to visit these places in your own time, with your own family or group, guided by a driver who knows every location and can help you understand the significance of what you are seeing.
Below is the complete list of holy sites covered on our Makkah Ziyarat taxi tour. Not every site is included in every tour duration — we will discuss which locations matter most to your group when you book, and plan the route accordingly.
Jabal al-Noor — The Mountain of Light
Jabal al-Noor, the Mountain of Light, is without question the most visited Ziyarat site in all of Makkah. Rising 642 metres above sea level on the outskirts of the city, this rocky mountain is where the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, used to retreat in solitude, worship, and contemplation before the arrival of revelation.
At the very top of Jabal al-Noor sits the Cave of Hira — Ghar Hira — the small, narrow cave where the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Prophet through the Angel Jibreel, may peace be upon him. The word Iqra — Read — echoed in that cave more than 1,400 years ago and changed the world forever.
The climb to the cave takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on fitness level and is around 1,200 steps. It is a physically demanding ascent but one that pilgrims of all ages describe as profoundly moving and spiritually rewarding. Our driver will wait at the base of the mountain and be available when you return. We recommend comfortable footwear and carrying water for this visit.
Jabal Thawr — The Mountain of the Hijra
Jabal Thawr holds a very special place in Islamic history. It is the mountain where the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his companion Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, took refuge in a cave for three days during the Hijra — the migration from Makkah to Madinah — while being pursued by the Quraysh.
The cave on Jabal Thawr, known as Ghar Thawr, is where divine protection was manifest in a miraculous way — a spider spinning its web and a dove nesting at the cave entrance, convincing the pursuers that no one had recently entered. This story, beloved by every Muslim, comes alive when you stand at this mountain and understand the geography of those extraordinary days.
Jabal Thawr is a steeper and less frequented climb than Jabal al-Noor, which means it tends to be quieter and particularly peaceful. Our driver will guide you to the starting point and be ready when you descend.
The Plains of Arafat — Jabal al-Rahmah
The vast open plains of Arafat, located approximately 20 kilometres east of the Masjid al-Haram, are one of the most spiritually charged places on earth. For Hajj pilgrims, standing on the plain of Arafat on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah — the day of Arafat — is the central pillar of the entire Hajj. Without this standing, the Hajj is not valid.
At the centre of the plain rises Jabal al-Rahmah — the Mountain of Mercy — the hill where the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, delivered his final sermon during his farewell Hajj. It was here that the verse was revealed completing the religion: “This day I have perfected for you your religion.”
Visiting Arafat outside of Hajj season, as part of a Makkah Ziyarat tour, allows pilgrims to walk the plain, climb the mountain, and reflect on the significance of this place in complete stillness and peace — a very different but equally moving experience to the millions-strong gathering of Hajj.
Mina — The Valley of the Tents
The valley of Mina, located approximately 8 kilometres from the Haram, is where Hajj pilgrims spend several nights during the days of Hajj and where they perform one of the most symbolically powerful acts of the pilgrimage — the stoning of the Jamarat, representing the rejection of Shaitan and following in the footsteps of the Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him.
Outside of Hajj season, Mina is quiet and the vast tent cities that house millions of pilgrims during Hajj stand empty — creating an extraordinary and almost surreal landscape. Visiting Mina as part of your Makkah Ziyarat gives powerful context for understanding the Hajj rituals, especially for those preparing for their own Hajj journey in the future.
Also in Mina is Masjid al-Khaif, one of the oldest mosques in the area, where many prophets are said to have prayed. Our driver will point out and explain key sites throughout the valley.
Muzdalifah — The Sacred Ground Between Mina and Arafat
Muzdalifah is the open plain that lies between Mina and Arafat. During Hajj, pilgrims spend the night here under the open sky after departing from Arafat, collecting pebbles for the Jamarat ritual and praying Maghrib and Isha combined before resting until dawn.
Like Mina, visiting Muzdalifah outside of Hajj season gives pilgrims a quiet, reflective experience of a place that carries immense significance in the Hajj journey. Understanding the geography of the Muzdalifah plain — how it sits between the two sacred areas — brings the entire Hajj narrative into much clearer focus.
Masjid al-Jinn — The Mosque of the Jinn
This small but historically significant mosque is built on the site where a group of Jinn gathered and listened to the recitation of the Holy Quran by the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, as described in Surah al-Jinn. It is a fascinating and less visited stop that many pilgrims are moved to include in their Ziyarat tour.
Masjid al-Ijabah
Another historically significant mosque in Makkah, Masjid al-Ijabah is the mosque where the Prophet is reported to have prayed and where three specific supplications were made — two of which were accepted and one withheld as a mercy for the Muslim community. It is a meaningful and contemplative stop often included in longer Ziyarat tours.
The Birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad — Peace Be Upon Him
The area in the old city of Makkah that is traditionally associated with the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is now the site of the Makkah Public Library. While the physical structure has changed over centuries, the location remains deeply significant to pilgrims who wish to stand at the place where the final Prophet of Allah entered the world.
Jannat al-Mualla — The Cemetery of Makkah
Jannat al-Mualla is the historic cemetery of Makkah, resting place of many significant members of the Prophet’s family including Sayyida Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her — the Prophet’s beloved first wife — and his grandfather Abdul Muttalib. Visiting the cemetery for the purpose of remembering death and making dua is a deeply emotional and spiritually grounding experience for many pilgrims.
We offer three tour options to suit different schedules and group preferences. All tours depart from your hotel in Makkah and return to your hotel at the end.

Travel at Your Own Pace A private Ziyarat taxi is not a group bus tour with a fixed schedule. You stop for as long as you need at each location. If you want to spend an hour at Jabal al-Noor reflecting quietly after the climb, you can. If an elderly family member needs more time getting back to the vehicle, the driver waits patiently. This is your spiritual journey, and it moves at your pace.
A Knowledgeable, Respectful Driver Our Makkah Ziyarat drivers are experienced guides who know every holy site in and around the city. Many of them have performed Umrah and Hajj themselves and can explain the significance of each location in Arabic, English, or Urdu. They approach every Ziyarat tour with the reverence it deserves.
Comfortable, Private Vehicle You travel in a clean, air-conditioned private vehicle — just your family or group, no strangers. After a long climb at Jabal al-Noor or a long walk across the plains of Arafat, returning to a cool, comfortable vehicle waiting just for you makes an enormous difference.
Safe Navigation in Unfamiliar Territory The holy sites around Makkah are spread across different areas, some of which involve narrow roads, mountain approaches, and areas that can be disorienting for visitors who do not know the city. Your driver knows exactly where to park, which entrance to use, and how to navigate efficiently between sites.
Perfect for Elderly Passengers and Families With Children Our drivers are patient and accommodating with elderly passengers, those with limited mobility, and families travelling with young children. We can adjust the itinerary to focus on sites that are more accessible and reduce walking distances where needed.
Madinah Ziyarat Service — After your Makkah Ziyarat, most Umrah pilgrims travel to Madinah where there are equally significant holy sites to visit — Masjid Quba, Jabal Uhud, Masjid al-Qiblatain, and the dates market. Our Madinah Ziyarat taxi service covers all major holy sites in and around the City of the Prophet with the same professional, private guided service.
Makkah to Madinah Taxi Fare — When you are ready to travel from Makkah to Madinah, our intercity private taxi covers the 430 km journey comfortably with fixed fares for all vehicle sizes from sedan to coach. Read our complete Makkah to Madinah taxi fare guide for full pricing and booking details.

Q: Which Ziyarat places are included in the Makkah Ziyarat taxi tour?
Our standard full day Makkah Ziyarat taxi tour covers all major holy sites including Jabal al-Noor and Cave Hira, Jabal Thawr and Cave Thawr, the plains of Arafat and Jabal al-Rahmah, the valley of Mina, Muzdalifah, Masjid al-Jinn, Masjid al-Ijabah, Jannat al-Mualla cemetery, and the area associated with the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Our half day tour covers the most significant sites including Jabal al-Noor, Jabal Thawr, and Jannat al-Mualla. Custom tours can be tailored to focus on specific locations based on your group’s preferences and available time.
Q: How long does the Makkah Ziyarat tour take?
We offer three tour durations. The half day Ziyarat tour runs for approximately four to five hours and covers the key sites closest to Makkah. The full day tour runs for eight to ten hours and covers all major Ziyarat locations including Arafat, Mina, and Muzdalifah which are located further from the city centre. Custom tours can be arranged for as little as two hours if you have a specific site in mind. All tours depart from and return to your hotel in Makkah. We recommend starting the full day tour early in the morning, ideally after Fajr prayer, to make the most of the cooler part of the day and avoid midday heat.
Q: Is a Makkah Ziyarat tour suitable for elderly passengers and young children?
Absolutely. We regularly arrange Makkah Ziyarat tours for elderly pilgrims, passengers with limited mobility, and families with young children. For elderly passengers and those who prefer not to climb, we can adjust the itinerary to focus on ground-level sites and skip the mountain climbs at Jabal al-Noor and Jabal Thawr. Alternatively, elderly passengers can remain comfortably in the air-conditioned vehicle at the base of the mountain while younger family members make the ascent. Our drivers are patient, caring, and experienced in accommodating all types of passengers. Please inform us of any mobility requirements or special needs at the time of booking so we can plan the tour accordingly.
